Musawah’s Global Conference on Muslim Family Law Reform (23-28 Nov 2020) presents an Artivism Gallery, featuring:

An interview and performance by Zamzuriah Zahari. Zamzuriah is a dancer, singer, director and performer from the Malaysian state of Kelantan who specialises in traditional Malay dance and theatre such as Tarian Tari Inai, Mak Yong Kelantan, Mek Mulung Kedah and Mak Yong Riau. She talks about how her various performance arts are in commitment to preserving and showcasing Malaysia’s traditional artforms, as seen in the song “Wanita Malaya” that she performs in the style of dikir barat, accompanied by a band of traditional instruments and a chorus.
